Strutt ev¹ 1.2.6.11 Release Notes: Cruise Mode, Vehicle Lock, & Smart Driving Upgrades
Version 1.2.6.11 brings a host of exciting features designed to make your journeys smoother, safer, and highly customizable. From our highly anticipated Cruise Mode to advanced security with Vehicle Lock, here is a complete breakdown of what is new. This update also includes ongoing refinements to navigation, relocalisation, evSense behaviour, and system stability.

Important Upgrade Notice
Update Your Strutt App
Be sure to update your Strutt App to the latest version 2.5.0 on the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store for the best experience.
After installing this update, please drive your Strutt ev¹ through your entire mapped area once to update the map. Doing this will allow the vehicle to locate itself about 50% faster in future uses.
Introducing Cruise Mode (via Open Beta Program)
Long, straight drives are now effortless. Cruise Mode allows your vehicle to maintain a preferred speed and direction. Cruise Mode is currently supported in Manual and Co-Pilot modes only.

New to Cruise Mode?
We recommend trying it in Co-Pilot Mode first to become familiar with how it works.
  1. How to Enable:

    1. On the Strutt App: Join the Open Beta Program in the Strutt App. Accept the Cruise Mode Disclaimer to participate in this.

    2. On the vehicle: Press the Strutt Button, to head to the Main Menu, scroll down and tap Cruise Mode on your vehicle screen to activate it.


Two ways to enter Cruise Mode:
  1. Push the joystick forward, then double-press the Joystick Button to maintain the same speed.
  2. Push the joystick forward and hold for 2 seconds. Continue holding the joystick fully forward, and the vehicle will accelerate smoothly until it reaches the maximum speed for the current speed level.
    1. For safety reasons, this mode is switched off by default.

    2. Enable this on your vehicle via: Settings > Vehicle Mode > Cruise Mode > Activate Cruise with Joystick 

While Cruising:
  • Move the joystick left or right to adjust the direction of travel
  • Tap the Speed + or Speed - button to adjust the current speed by increments of 0.5
  • Press and hold the Speed + or Speed - button to change the Speed Levels
When using Manual Mode with Cruise Control
Please stay aware of your surroundings and drive carefully, as the ev¹ may veer slightly to the left or right. Use the joystick to correct its direction as needed and maintain a straight path.
Auto-Calibration:
If your vehicle drifts slightly while cruising, stop the current Cruise Mode session and remain in the same position for about 1-2 minutes for the sensors to calibrate. Then, start a new Cruise Mode session again, and ev¹ will gradually correct its straight-line driving.

How to exit Cruise Mode:
  • Pull the Joystick backwards.
  • Change driving modes.
  • If Cruise Mode Hands-Free is switched off, take your hand off the Joystick.
  • If Button Shortcuts are set, double-press the Joystick Button to exit.

Cruise Mode Hands-Free

After turning Cruise mode on, you can enable Hands-Free navigation by taking your hand off the joystick while in Cruise Mode. Please remain alert and be ready to take control at any moment.

How to Enable it:
  • On the Strutt App: Accept the Cruise Mode Hands-Free disclaimer.
  • On the vehicle: Enable this via Settings > Advanced Settings > Cruise Mode Hands-Free

Enhanced Vehicle Security

Vehicle Lock
Set a custom 4-digit PIN for your vehicle. Once locked, the PIN is required to use it.

Enable this on your vehicle via: Settings > General > Lock > Vehicle Lock.

If you forget the PIN:
  • Bring your phone close to the vehicle and unlock it via the Strutt App.
  • You can also view the Vehicle Lock PIN in the App.
If the wrong PIN is entered 5 times, the screen will lock. Use your Strutt App account to unlock the vehicle.

Customisation & Interface Updates

Default Drive Mode Choose which Drive Mode the vehicle uses immediately after starting up.
Enable this on your vehicle via: Settings > Advanced Settings > Default Drive Mode
  • If the default mode is Co-Pilot (takes ~15s to load) or Co-Pilot+ (takes ~40s to load), please wait for evSense to finish loading before driving.


Additional Safety Feature
To prevent accidental activation, you'll need to confirm on-screen before switching from Co-Pilot / Co-Pilot+ Mode to Manual Mode.


Control Priority
Choose which control method has priority, such as via the physical ev¹ Joystick or the Strutt App Control Joystick.

Enable this on your vehicle via: Settings > Quad-drive System > Drive Controls > Control Priority


Additional Safety Feature
Switching to a lower-priority control requires confirmation via a prompt.
Switching to a higher-priority method requires no confirmation.


Button Mapping
The Joystick Button now has functions for different interaction behaviors.
  • Single Press: Enable/Disable Live Map View
  • Double Press: Activate/Cancel Cruise Mode
  • Long Press: Activates AI Assistant
Enable this on your vehicle via: Settings > Advanced Settings > Button Mapping

Currently, only one function per button action is supported. More options will be released in future updates.



Date and Time Sync
Date and time can now be synced automatically or set manually.

Front-Wheel Steering Sensitivity
Adjust how quickly the front wheels respond.

Enable this on your vehicle via: Settings > Quad-drive System > Drive Settings > Front-Wheel Steering Sensitivity.

Early-Access Language Support
We are introducing preliminary screen translations for German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, and Simplified Chinese. This feature is still in its initial stages and will be continuously optimised in future updates. Share your feedback on Discord (discord.gg/struttev1) to co-design the final experience with us!

Enable this on your vehicle via:Settings > General > Language.

Smarter Navigation & evSense Enhancements

Smart Driving Added detection types for special scenarios and obstacles, along with corresponding smart handling rules. Detection for slopes and moving, hanging objects was added, reducing unnecessary braking when there are no obstacles or dangers ahead.

Faster Relocalization
After waking up from Power Off or Sleep Mode, the vehicle will find its location on the map (relocalization) about 50% faster.
  • After powering on the device, wait for the evSense System to finish loading to ensure the ev¹ fully localises before accessing the Waypoints Map.
  • Saved Waypoints can be used before relocalisation is fully completed, but new Waypoints can only be added once positioning is ready.
  • If the device cannot relocalize, drive the ev¹ around to help it find its position.
  • If relocalization fails after 5-10 minutes, recreate the map and use 'Recall' to restore your Waypoints.

Smoother Pathfinder & Waypoints driving experience
When navigating narrow areas, the vehicle now avoids obstacles more smoothly and maintains a safer distance to reduce the risk of scraping past an object.

Display and Interface
  • Real-Time Power Display: A live power indicator is now displayed directly under the battery icon on the home screen.
  • Vehicle Model Updates: After changing armrest height or vehicle size settings, the system must update the vehicle model on all maps. During this process, Co-Pilot, Co-Pilot+, Waypoints, and Pathfinder cannot be used.

Bug Fixes

  • Wi-Fi Stability: Fixed an issue that caused the vehicle to automatically connect to open Wi-Fi networks, improving overall network stability.
  • Sunlight Glare: Technical optimisations have been implemented to reduce false detections caused by strong sunlight.

Known Issues

We are actively working on all known issues and will continue addressing them in future updates.
App & General
  1. OTA upgrades may occasionally fail. Please try the upgrade again if it fails.
  2. Wi-Fi networks with browser authentication are not supported.

Cruise Mode
  1. While using Cruise Mode, the ev¹ may veer slightly to the left or right. To recalibrate the sensors, stop the vehicle and keep it stationary for 1–2 minutes before continuing.
AI Assistant
  1. The AI assistant may be unstable in certain conditions and is unavailable without a Wi-Fi connection.
  2. The double-press control on the Joystick Button to activate the AI assistant can only be accessed from the Home Screen and Live View Screen.
evSense

Obstacle Avoidance (Co-Pilot Mode)
  1. When passing moving obstacles, the vehicle may slow down noticeably or steer less smoothly. Oncoming or fast-moving objects can trigger abrupt avoidance maneuvers, with a small risk of light contact.
    1. In crowded areas, frequent speed changes may make the ride feel less smooth.
    2. For busy environments, we recommend using speed level 3 or below.
  2. Unexpected braking may occasionally occur near the edges of steep slopes, on open-grid surfaces, in shallow puddles, and at curbs or drop-offs.

Sensing Coverage
  1. Cliff and curb detection may be less reliable when walls or other objects sit behind the drop, making the edge harder to identify.
  2. Some areas around the vehicle have limited sensing coverage. This includes elevated objects, objects directly above or very close to the vehicle, and irregularly shaped objects directly behind it.

As ev¹ continues to evolve, some features may still have limitations in certain environments or use cases. We appreciate your continued feedback, as it helps us identify issues, improve the experience, and shape future updates together.
